Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Where is Spirit Lake?

A: Spirit Lake is 4 miles north of Perry, Kansas. (Only 2 miles of gravel) We are 30 minutes from Lawrence; 40 minutes from Topeka; and 1+ hour from Kansas City. Click on map link for directions.

Q: What else is close by?

A: It's a 5 minute drive to Perry Lake Marina. Perry Reservoir covers 11,500 acres which offers sailing and skiing nearby. The town of Perry has a population of 880. The business district offers a grocery store, bank, Golden Pizza restaurant, and convenience gas stations.

Q: I am not attending my husband's meeting. What else is there?

A: Take a ¾ mile walk around the lake on "Geezer Trail"; experience the meditation labyrinth, fish, canoe, paddle boat, shoot hoops, practice horseshoe throwing, or just relax and enjoy the song birds and quiet beauty of this remote location. Life jackets are available for our scheduled guests.

Q: When is check-in and check-out?

A: Check-in is 3pm; check-out is 10 am and can be customized to your specific reservation.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: In general, bring yourself, comfortable shoes is a must! We provide a fully-equipped kitchen for your use. Bring food to prepare; snacks and beverages or visit our local grocer or eateries. If swimming or canoeing, bring your beach towels. If you are hosting an event, additional details must be discussed.

Q: Is there a cleaning service?

A: In the Cottage and Cedar House we provide a set of bed linens, bath towels and wash cloths for your stay. The facility will be clean when you arrive. Please run the dishwasher before you leave and place all dirty linens in the laundry hamper. Group needs in the Lodge vary and are discussed separately. Please enjoy your privacy during your stay and call our staff for any help needed.

Q: Is smoking permitted at Spirit Lake?

A: Because of high fire hazard, smoking in general is not permitted at Spirit Lake except at the lakeside fire ring and other designated areas.

Q: How do company picnics work?

A: You decide what time of day works best for your meal and plan play time around that. Your guests have use of the beach, lake, and other activities during your scheduled time at Spirit Lake. The staff will prepare your burgers, brats and sides while you enjoy a game of volleyball or relax in the shade.
